New Zealand: Auckland

New Zealand: Auckland

Auckland is not just a city it is an area of the Northern island of New Zealand that is home to a lots of different activities, landscapes and people. The city itself is home to around 2 million of the countries 6.2 million people. The city itself is what I would call highly user friendly. Although there isn’t that much excitement going on within the city itself for a tourist or a passer by, I certainly understand the appeal of living in a city such as this. We spent four nights in Auckland as we had just flown in from the UK and had a hell of a flying hangover. Our bodies needless to say were mightily confused, with it being a full 12 hour time difference that we just jumped into. We also wanted to stay for a little while so that we could sort out our Kiwi bank accounts and phones etc – what can I say life admin gets you even when you are living out of a van on the other side of the world.

America: South West Road Trip

America: South West Road Trip

Hello and welcome to the blog on the South West USA road trip that I recently embarked on with my boyfriend, Will and his Mum. Needless to say it was an amazing trip with the main event being the North rim to south rim trek of the Grand Canyon. That however deserves its very own post so you will have to follow the link for that particular one explanation – its coming right behind this one so hang on for one moment. If you can’t wait then take a look at my instagram highlights *Rim2Rim GCanyon* for a little commentary and scenery as we went.

America: Canyonlands National Park

America: Canyonlands National Park

The lands of Canyons. Canyonlands is located about a half an hours drive from Moab city. I would love to return to Moab one day. Although it is not much to look at Moab is a place that is located surrounded by action adventure sports and activities. So if you like the outdoor I cannot recommend Moab enough. It is very American though, not particularly set up for outsiders and the environments worst enemy. All the hotels that we stayed in all had disposable plastic plates, cups and cutlery. I was horrified to see such a waste to be created just with breakfast. Not good.

Canyonlands was beautiful and is split into two parts. The Island in the Sky and The Needles. Both of which I would say are worth the visit to.

Nepal: Everest Base Camp

Nepal: Everest Base Camp

As many people who I surround myself with know. I have recently set myself a challenge of reaching Everest base camp. Not only for my own bucket list so to speak but also in aid of a fantastic cause. Cancer Research UK. I have not only managed to reach base camp set at 5,364 meters or 17,598 ft as Americans out it. I have also managed to raise a significant amount of money for the charity as well. Of which brings me even more satisfaction that you can imagine.

Whistler: Winter edition

Whistler: Winter edition

As I found when I first got to Whistler a lot of people go there and not ski. This blew my mind a little as I was there for the skiing. I had travelled across the globe for the snow where others just went as a holiday without the love of the mountain sport.

As a result I have made a hit list of things to do other than kill it on the mountain during the winter. Also for those of you who also hear the call of the mountains some skiing trips and deals that are worth looking into.

Whistler: Ski season

Whistler: Ski season

I have recently been living in the ski town, Whistler. Based in British Columbia for the winter 2017/18. Being able to live and work here has been a dream come true. Everyone I have met during my time just made it that much more special!

The idealistic scenery that surrounded me during the 6 months I was here was the icing on the cake. I know that what I am able to pass on will be only the tip of the iceberg for many who go and visit but these are the things that I am recommending 100% to anyone who is planning on spending any extended time around my winter home.

I have split this into two sections.  Therefore  won’t bore you by getting you to read all of the advice that I am about to part ways with.

The two parts I will be producing are linked in below.

Part 1 – Where to eat and what to expect

Part 2 – Things to do both on and off the ski slopes

Greece: Athens

Greece: Athens

If the ancient makes your ears prick up or the long history takes you to another time. Athens is the place for you. As our Air bnb host so adeptly put it, “there is old stuff on every corner in Athens”. He wasn’t lying. There is so much ancient history still visible in this city. It is truly incredible. Here is my guide to the city and a few ideas for a outing further away from the capital.
